Step FourNow that you are chatting there are a few more things you may need to know.
You may see purple writings that look like this: *Adolla waves This is called an action. To do this type: /me <action> So to wave I would type /me waves
If you wish to talk to someone privately you can type: /msg <nick> <what you want to say> example: /msg Adolla hi, how are you?
You can also double click on their name in the user list to bring up another window. When someone pm's you then a window will pop up. Sometimes you'll here people refer to this as a red blinkie.
If you wish to change your name for some reason type /nick <new nick> Example: /nick Adolla_Sedai
The Sorcery Network allows you to save your name on the server. This is will keep others from using your name in chat. It also allows you to get rid of a "ghost" nick if you're connection times out. If you wish to do this you can do so by typing: /msg nickserv register <password> <your email or none if you wish to leave it blank> If you log off the server or change names you'll have to ID yourself when you come back to that name. Type: /msg nickserv ID <password> If you feel it's safe to automatically log into your nick every time you join then after you have entered your password type : /msg nickserv addmask For more info on what Nickserv can do type: /msg nickserv help and follow the menu
You may notice @The Dark One or @TDO when you are chatting. This is a program run by Yenie Sedai to keep our channels running smoothly. TDO also has a list of commands you can use to make chatting interesting. If you wish to learn more type !commands in one of the channels.
On occasion you may want to add color to your text. We ask that you do this sparingly because it can become annoying. To do this you would hold cntrl + k. In mIRC or sysreset this will also bring up a cheat sheet of colors. Each color has it's own number. After cntrl + k enter the number of the color you wish to use. The following text will be that color. To change hit cntrl + K again and another number or no number to go back to the default color. If you wish to change the background of a word then simply type two numbers separated by a comma. ex: cntrl+k11,12 test will look like this:
