Background
I'm a 46 year old woman with two college degrees, one in English and one in mass communications. Perhaps it is the fact that I was never at a loss for words that makes the fibrofog and the speech trouble so frustrating.

Fibro/Health Stats
My fibromyalgia symptoms began in 1997 as the result of adverse effects of a medication, but I was not officially diagnosed until April 24, 2000. Then in January 2002, I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Next came the discovery of chronic myofascial pain in October 2002. On June 2, 2003, I was diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome. In September 2003, I was found to have a digestive condition called gastroparesis and began a gluten-free diet to treat gluten intolerance. In June 2004, I began vestibular rehabilitation for vertigo. I have peripheral neuropathy as a result of the Sjogren's as well as lymphedema and arthritis in all my major joints except the elbows and shoulders. In January 2005, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and periodic limb movement disorder. The most recent discovery was in January 2008, when visits to the Mayo Clinic revealed asthma and brain lesions. Quite an adventure so far, don't you think?
