Ah~yes. . .Restless Leg Syndrome. . .Don't you just love it? I am kidding of course! The nagging tingling that runs down your legs and feet area.(in some cases like mine , my arms & hands too) The tingling starts to annoy ya a little bit , then the achiness starts to set in a bit , then the sharp stabs in the legs and feet causing you to jerk at times. The tingling continues and you feel as though your leg is falling asleep. Then it starts , continual jerks every few minues , then seconds. You feel as though you have absolutely no control what-so-ever.
When it first started to happen to me , I wasn't yet diagnosed and I was so scared. I yelled for my husband to look at my arms and hands in amazement, then it wasn't all that funny anymore when it became unbearable to feel. The pain , the tingling sensation , the numbness , all at the same time! I started to become really scared. Todd had no idea what to do. He asked if I was in serious pain , I said to him" I am not really sure. It feels wierd and more annoying than anything." The shakes and jerks went on for about an hour then all I had was tremors in my hands. The next couple days all I had was achiness in my shoulder area.(Possibly from the violent jerking!) I have over the years pulled muscles and had charlie horses arise from the jerks. Sound familiar? Isn't it aweful? Especially when you are out in public! It looks as though you are having seizures! People just stare like "should I help her, Is she ok? Boy what a wierdo!" You would think in this day and age , people would not stare at other people's disabilities!
My poor 3 year old boy , only has memories of his mother this way. I think that is the most sad of all for me. He doesn't remember me the way I was before all this, because he wasn't born yet. In a way , it actually is a good thing , because he is groing up to learn on how not to stare, and how to not judge others because of their disabilities. He is respectful of that already. I am glad.
