FIBRO INSITE'S HOME PAGE
My cousin suffers from FM. I say suffer because this
is the truth. It is not only physically debilitating,
but also mentally. Sure she has good days and bad days
physically, but mentally she is always suffering. Let
me explain what I see. On good days she is mentally
beating herself up for not finishing this or that, for
not being a better wife and mother.And since it is a
good day physically, Fibro beaten her again. FM is
a constant in her life. She has accepted this, but
that doesn't mean she likes it.
Now that I have a better understanding of this, (and
that understanding was a process. It is hard to accept
what we can't see.) I see how important a kind word, a
letter, a helping hand, a prayer, just keeping in
touch are to her. This is support. We all need
support. Lets support the ones we love. We don't
understand this illness, remember neither do they. A
diagnosis is only the first step. Love, acceptance,
and support from family and friends should be the
second.
